Quentin Sauvé "NO HARD FEELINGS" LP

NO HARD FEELINGS tells the story of a traumatic event from March 2022 which triggered severe depression. I found myself in a pretty painful situation from a personal and professional standpoint, regarding my solo project and my band Birds In Row. Friendship and work relationships have always been tightly intertwined, since every person I create art with is usually someone I call friend.
 
Even though I had done my best to anticipate the negative consequences of choices that were made by a third party, who I had warned of the threat those decisions posed to me, I did not feel heard and I ended up as collateral damage. The utter chaos that resulted called into question my very place in this musical industry. I had no choice but to “duck and cover”, seclude myself to weather the storm and deal with the professional and emotional fallout.

This album is a collection of hard feelings I struggled to cope with during this long period of grief and insomnia. I had to let go of some people and relationships. I had to let go of my dreams and ideals and I had to forgive myself for wanting to give up.

The writing process was really challenging and lonely, but also healing and necessary. It started early 2024 on a songwriting workshop with Adrianne Lenker (Big Thief) on the "School of Song" platform. Two songs on the album were born from these classes (Collateral Damage & For the Best), and all others followed quickly after.

It is a real shift from my previous work, which was deliberately stripped down and meant to be played solo. This time it’s packed with of arrangements and definitely a band effort for live shows to come. A lot of friends collaborated on this recording, making it full of surprises and, even if terribly sad, filled to the brim with love.

Letting go, but never giving up.
