Friendship and work relationships have always been tightly intertwined, since every person I create art with is usually someone I call friend.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003eEven though I had done my best to anticipate the negative consequences of choices that were made by a third party, who I had warned of the threat those decisions posed to me, I did not feel heard and I ended up as collateral damage. The utter chaos that resulted called into question my very place in this musical industry. I had no choice but to “duck and cover”, seclude myself to weather the storm and deal with the professional and emotional fallout.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis album is a collection of hard feelings I struggled to cope with during this long period of grief and insomnia. I had to let go of some people and relationships. I had to let go of my dreams and ideals and I had to forgive myself for wanting to give up.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe writing process was really challenging and lonely, but also healing and necessary. It started early 2024 on a songwriting workshop with Adrianne Lenker (Big Thief) on the \"School of Song\" platform. Two songs on the album were born from these classes (Collateral Damage \u0026amp; For the Best), and all others followed quickly after.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is a real shift from my previous work, which was deliberately stripped down and meant to be played solo. This time it’s packed with of arrangements and definitely a band effort for live shows to come.
